We’ve been working hard on some new features for you – board themes and the losers variant. Both of these features are available to Pro users, so be sure to upgrade if you haven’t already!
Board Themes
Board themes have been a big request since we first launched Chesspark, and we’ve added 4 new ones for your enjoyment:
Eyes
Fantasy
Skulls
Spatial
We’ll be adding more themes in the future, and if you have any suggestions, let us know!
Losers Chess
Losers chess (also known as Suicide) is a variant of chess where you must lose all of your pieces first in order to win. If it is possible to capture an enemy piece, you must do so! Give this radical twist on the normal chess rules a try.

Other Improvements
- Fixed crash bug in desktop client build 404
- Expanded the rating filter options in web client
- Fixed increment time handling
- Optimized game finder so that it should be many times faster (especially in IE6)
- Offline avatars are now grayed out like offline usernames
- Fixed lots of minor errors
