Chesspark Is Faster Than Ever

We finally tracked down the issue responsible for the last week of poor performance.   It turned out to be nothing we did, and a quick configuration change by Amazon fixed the problem.

We did spend several days optimizing the database while we searched for the root cause of the database slowdown.  The result is that the Chesspark service is around 2x faster than it was before we hit the slowdown on Friday.
