10th May 2008 - mate 6

Solutions of the yesterday’s position:

White knight moves to c8! It controls the a7 square and gives check for the king. This is the checkmate! :)

Today’s mate: mate 6

In the game gheorghius-horsystyle69 black played the developing move knight f6 from g8. Moving out pieces in the opening is a good idea, but we should always check, if the opponent has a deadly reply or not. In this case bishop e7 was the right developing move, which closed the e1 rook’s file.

What is the winning move for white? We will find it tomorrow! :)

If you played a nice mate, then please send the game number and your Chesspark username to dailymate@chesspark.com and maybe your mate will be the next on this page. :)

Today’s mate: mate 5

In the game dispatcher-esqwired black played good-looking move knight to e5 to the center. After this move the c-file opened for the white rook, which controls the c5,c6 and c7 squares around the black king, a4,b4 pawns cover the 5th rank. The black king has only a7 square to run away. White has a strong move to attack a7 square and the king in the same time.

What is the winning move? We will post the solution tomorrow! :)

If you played a nice mate, then please send the game number and your Chesspark username to dailymate@chesspark.com and maybe your mate will be the next on this page. :)

8th May 2008 - mate 4

Solutions of the yesterday’s position:

The black knight moves to h3 to give a double check by the queen and the knight for the white king. White moves the king to h1. Then comes queen g1 sacrifice, which force the rook to capture the queen and block the h1 king. It has no square to move, so knight can give a check on f2, which is a checkmate! :)

Today’s mate: mate 4

In the game corchoc-blaz the white pawn captured on h3. The a2 rook is very strong, it controls the 2nd rank. White king has nowhere to move.

How can black give the final check, which will be the mate? Tomorrow we will see. :)

Solutions of the yesterday’s position:

Black queen moves to g2. It controls the f1 and f2 squares and gives a check the the king. White has no more moves. Checkmate! :)

mate 3

In the game Kanaty-gheorghius black gave a very nice mate by the knight in 3 moves. First he need to create blockade for the white king by a queen sacrifice. Sometimes we need to sacrifice the most valuable piece of our life to reach the goal :)

What is the solution? We will discuss it tomorrow.

If you played a nice mate, then please send the game number and your Chesspark username to dailymate@chesspark.com and maybe your mate will be the next on this page. :)

Solutions of the yesterday’s position:

White moves the d-pawn to d3 or to d4. It opens the diagonal of the c1 bishop which gives the check for the black king and also it controls the g5 escape square. So this check is a checkmate! :)

mate 2

In the game mfathih-bullettrain White’s last move was: pawn f2 took on e3. The d-file is under fire by the d8 rook, e3 and e1 squares are blocked by the rook and the pawn. Black has a strong move to catch the King.

What is the winning move? I will send the solution tomorrow.
